Remembering Katelyn

Today is the fourth anniversary of the passing of my best friend's daughter. Katelyn was one day short of nine months old when her precious life on earth ended due to a horrible car accident. My daughter, Macie was only three months old at the time and this event changed my life forever.

Katelyn was a miracle from God from the first day of her life to the last. Her smile and happy spirit will be remembered by all that knew her forever. My best friend Kellie and her husband Stephen have not only survived this tragedy but have used this experience to minister to other parents who have lost children. Their greatest mission is to share the wonderful love of Jesus and the peace and strength that only He can provide during difficult times. Kellie and Stephen are not only the best of friends by also examples by which I try to live my own life. They are my modern day heroes in a world of pain, sorrow and challenging times.

Today I remember Katelyn and the wonderful gift it was to know and love her. I also pray for my friends as they remember their precious little girl. My love and prayers go out to you.

Blessings,

Amy

Thankful

Can you believe that 2009 is almost over?!? I will be the first to admit that I am not sad to see this year go. 2009 seems to have been a particularly challenging year for many and my heart goes out to those who have lost jobs, experienced the loss of loved ones and for those who spent another year watching dreams and hopes go unfulfilled.

Although 2009 did not fail to present me with a great number of challenges I have SO very much to be thankful for this year:

1. A loving Savior who never disappoints, never forsakes and never leaves me.
2. A wonderful family
3. My health
4. A wonderful job
5. Great friends - both old and new
6. Our church, The Journey
7. And who can forget my very special blessings......

Christmas 2008

And then there were two..........

My very special blessings

Wishing you a wonderful rest of 2009 and a blessed 2010!

Love,

Amy

Back From My Trip To Insanity

I am finally writing a new blog post!! Needless to say, I have been a little busy (and a lot crazy) adjusting to life with two children. After working all day, picking up the girls, getting dinner on the table, playing with the girls, giving baths and tucking them in I haven't had much time to do anything else. We have certainly been in survival mode around our house.

The girls are doing great and I find myself the happiest I have ever been as a mother. Macie turned 4 years old in September and she is so much like me it is scary sometimes. She is my little shadow and loves to help mommy around the house. Her favorite thing to do is to help me cook. She can operate the hand mixer by herself and is cracking eggs on her own. A mother's heart is full of dreams for her children and I often wonder if I am baking cookies with the next Paula Dean. Wouldn't that be fun?

Aubrie is almost 10 months old and is growing by leaps and bounds. She is in the 90th percentile in height for her age and is just over 20 pounds. We call her our "little bear" because she loves to growl at us. She can say "Da-Da" and "Ma-Ma" and loves to make all sorts of funny noises. She is just starting to clap and wave. She crawled at six months and is now pulling up, standing on her own and we are just waiting for her to start walking. She is a determined little girl who brings so much joy to our family.

We are not traveling this Christmas and I am so looking forward to being at home this year with my girls. They are at such great ages and each day presents another opportunity for me to be so thankful for the many blessings in our lives.

Love to you all!

Amy

Aubrie - 4 months

video

Our little Aubrie turned 4 months old this past week. Can you believe it? I certainly can't. It seems like time is passing much more quickly with the second child. Perhaps that is because I am working full-time and we are so much busier.

Aubrie is such a delightful baby girl. We call her "Smiley" because she smiles so much. She continues to do well at preschool and we are so thankful for her teachers Mrs. Nancy and Ms. Jennifer. They take great care of our little girl during the day when we are at work. Here are a few updates on Miss Aubrie:
  • She is still drinking 6 oz every three hours. She ate her first solid food of rice cereal this evening. She gagged a little, but for the most part she gobbled it up just fine. Our little girl can eat!

  • She loves to sit and stand up. She is always trying to do a sit-up by lifting her little shoulder up off of her bed or the floor. When we hold her hands she tries to pull herself up into the sitting position. She has also started standing in her exersaucer at home and at school. She really likes to work her little legs.

  • Aubrie coos and makes noises more and more. She watches our mouths when we talk and we know she is trying to talk back to us.

  • She is still hit and miss with sleeping through the night. Last week she only made it through the night twice. She goes to bed between 7 and 7:30 each night and usually sleeps until 3 or 4 in the morning. Thankfully she goes right back to sleep after her early morning feeding and sleeps until 6 am when we get her up to go to school.

Chad and Macie went to the carnival on Friday night with our pastor and his son Kaleb. Macie had a great time, especially riding the ferris wheels. She rode the big one with her dad and the little one with Kaleb. Here is a short video of the fun.

Better late than never!

Life has taken the Jordan house by storm and Chad and I are so busy with work and the girls that updating our blog has been put on hold the past few weeks. Summer is in full swing here in middle Tennessee and we spend much of our spare time outside watching Macie and the neighborhood kids play. Aubrie will be 15 weeks old tomorrow and she is getting so big. She has the sweetest personality and loves to coo and smile. We are slowly but surely adjusting to having two kids. It is definitely much harder that we ever dreamed it would be, but it is also more fun than we ever imagined. We are so proud of our girls! Here are a few pictures from the past few weeks:

Aubrie is 3 months old!

Today our little Aubrie is 3 months old! It has definitely been a great first few months despite the major adjustments that have taken place around our house. We have been back to work and school for 2 weeks now and we are getting the hang of having an infant in the house. Here is what Aubrie is up to these days:
  • Aubrie continues to do well at school. She is getting better at sleeping through the night, but Mommy still thinks that 4:00 am is a little too early to start her day.
  • Aubrie kicks her little feet and waves her little arms, especially at bathtime each night (which she loves)
  • She is also cooing and starting to make her first sounds.
  • Aubrie smiles a lot now, especially at her big sister Macie
  • She loves to be held, especially if we are standing up and rocking her.

We love our girls so much and were so happy to get their pictures taken recently. Here are some of my favorites:
